The RNLI are known as the charity that perform recuses at sea, but they are also working hard to raise awareness and through their summer campaign help reduce drowning.
Figures recently announced indicate that last year alone, 168 people lost their lives around the coastline of UK shores, over 52% of them were walking on the coastline, fishing, climbing etc. This is the highest figure in the last 5 years on the coast. Much more awareness is needed if we are to reduce the number of deaths each year. So please check out the RNLI campaign #Respectthewater and share it, talk about it, blog it, tweet it, whatever means suit you to help make others aware
